Artist Statement
"I was born and raised in a small town in Chile. Growing up in a place where family is still considered the basis of a person, I developed an impressive sense of belonging and a unique connection to my family. This intangible strength, a cosmos of invisible forces that bonds one being to another has become my work's platform. I have chosen to reflect on the fragility of life, its energy, and its relationship to the world.
With my work, a series of paintings dedicated to life itself, I delved into this connection: the relationship between one being to another through the invisible energy of the universe.
Early on, there were concrete elements of nature visible in my work, emphasized by the vibrant light coming from them. The simple forms and symbols placed on different settings and surroundings functioned as a vehicle for energy, for life.
As my work progressed, the forms became more abstract and the scenery dematerialized creating a world of atmospheric resonances presented in my own abstract language. Light has remained a constant element, as well as the use of diluted colors and the overlapping of stains that allows me to achieve an aerial sense of mystical landscapes. The constant quest of exploring the link between the physical and the spiritual has been a journey of introspection that gave way to emotion over rationality.
Every time I complete a new work, I have evolved not only as an artist but as a person, too. Passion and emotions go into each of my paintings. The creation of this ethereal world comes from a pure pictorial reflection based on my own emotions of a precise moment in time. With a definitive rupture from reality, my pictorial approach is expressed through my own codified language. Present in every one of my pieces is the connection between life, spirit, and the story of their entanglements."
